CA Positive Behavior Intervention Systems is Key at O'Day Short Elementary!

O'Day Short Elementary (previously Randall Pepper Elementary) has proudly earned the California PBIS Gold Award for the fourth consecutive year, a remarkable achievement that reflects the school's unwavering commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Prior to achieving Gold status, O'Day Short was recognized with the PBIS Silver Award, demonstrating its consistent growth and dedication to enhancing school climate and student success. This continued recognition highlights the school’s strong implementation of the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework, which promotes positive behaviors and creates a campus where students feel safe, respected, and empowered to excel.

The PBIS framework at O'Day Short is built on clear expectations, consistent reinforcement, and intentional support systems designed to help students develop positive social and emotional skills. Through strategies such as school-wide expectations, behavior incentives, and restorative practices, O'Day Short has cultivated a culture where positive behaviors are consistently taught, modeled, and celebrated. This proactive approach not only strengthens student conduct but also enhances academic achievement by creating an environment that minimizes disruptions and encourages engagement.

Earning Gold status for four consecutive years is a testament to the dedication and collaboration of O'Day Short’s students, staff, and families. Their commitment to building a nurturing environment where students are supported both academically and socially has played a vital role in this sustained success. Congratulations to the O'Day Short community on this outstanding accomplishment and for continuing to inspire excellence through positive behavior and student empowerment!
